Margot tea doily machine embroidery design project is oval and approximately 12 by 9 inches in size. For this project you will need to have 14 by 12 inches fabric of your choice. We used tan color linen fabric and similar tan color thread for freestanding lace to complete Margot. Feel free to use any of your favorite colors for this project. Embroider the following freestanding lace pieces:

  • 2 of Margot_01_02
  • 2 of Margot_01_03

Once you are finished embroidering freestanding lace pieces cut excess stabilizer. DO NOT wash off the stabilizer yet! Now embroider Margot_01_01 on your fabric following our color chart. Then attach freestanding lace to your fabric as shown on diagram1. You can attach it with pins or basting stitch then start sewing lace to fabric with straight stitch first. Trim excess fabric from the back and use zigzag stitch all around. For your final pass use satin stitch.

After attaching freestanding lace to the fabric you can wash off stabilizer (usually we soak it in water over night), flat dry and press from the back. Margot is ready for display!
